Collection: ABOUT
Gabriel van Eikeren, known professionally as gabriel LTA (“Like The Angel”), is a multifaceted artist renowned for his evocative paintings and emotionally charged music. As a painter, Gabriel specializes in large-scale works (typically 4x5 feet in size), where he masterfully blends dark, heavy textures with an array of vibrant colors, from rich traditional primaries to bright fluorescents and soft pastels. His art delves into the theme of using bright colors & manufactured layers of texture to hide the underlying pain and trauma within, creating pieces that are both visually striking and deeply introspective.
Gabriel draws inspiration from his desire to create works that silently stand out, making a statement without uttering a word. Each piece of art he creates provides him with a sense of incremental closure, a silent yet powerful testament to his experiences and emotions. Self-trained in all his artistic endeavors, Gabriel continues to push the boundaries of his creativity, leaving a lasting impact on both the art and music worlds.
Despite only beginning his painting journey two years ago, Gabriel has dedicated himself fully to his craft, often painting up to 12 hours a day alongside his full-time job. His passion for art was ignited by a simple acrylic art set gifted to him by his sister-in-law, who noticed the joy it brought him. What started as a relaxing hobby has evolved into a profound artistic pursuit, offering Gabriel a unique form of relaxation and personal fulfillment.
Gabriel’s artwork is currently featured at the Astro Lounge in Bend, OR, in an exhibit titled “The Glass Delusion,” which will run throughout the summer. This exhibit, named after his latest record with super producer Kyle Devine, reflects his artistic journey through a lifetime of memories and the eventual acceptance of the man he’s become.
In addition to his visual art, Gabriel is a prolific recording artist with 12 solo albums to his name. His music, characterized by catchy and emotionally vulnerable rap, complements his visual art. Over the past year and a half, he has worked closely with super producer & longtime collaborator & Kyle Devine on two albums, with Kyle handling the beats and Gabriel providing the vocals.
